How long do Tape in hair extensions stay in?

Tape in hair extensions grows out with your natural hair, once they have grown out a noticeable amount they should be removed and ‘moved up’ back towards the scalp.  Therefore, it depends upon how quickly your hair grows to how often the hair will need to be moved up. Typically, most people need to move up their extensions every 6-8 weeks.

Can I wear tape in hair extensions if I have thin hair?

Yes!  In fact, tape in hair extensions are the number one recommended type of extension for those with thin or fine hair.  The reason for this is that out of all the different types of hair extensions, the tape ins are the least damaging to thin hair and will not pull on the real hair or cause bald spots.  

Tape in extensions are also flat and sit right on the head which means they look much more natural than other, bulkier extensions.  Extensions such as the clip ins or the fusions are not only more damaging but will also be visible through fine hair due to their bulky nature.  The metal clips on clip in extensions will easily break fine hair, as will the glue or bonds in permanent extensions.

Will tape in hair extensions damage my natural hair?

No, these are the most gentle types of hair extensions and will not damage your real hair providing that they are applied and removed properly.  The extensions are applied by sandwiching a very small amount of the natural hair between 2 extension wefts. The small strip of tape at the top of the weft is an adhesive and holds the extensions to the real hair.  The tape on our extensions is so lightweight and gentle that it does not pull on the real hair unlike other types of extensions such as fusions and bonds which do causing breakage and even bald spots.

How much can hair tape ins cost?

The cost of tape in hair extensions will vary from seller to seller and also depend on the quality, color and length of the hair that you are buying.  That’s why it is important to buy high quality hair like ours for the most natural looking, long lasting extensions. Our hair is 100% remy or virgin hair which guarantees all of the above.  Other, low quality synthetic or non-remy hair will look cheap, be hard to style and last for a fraction of the time. It is always worth remembering that hair extensions are a luxury item to enhance your look, so it is always worth investing in the best quality of hair which we provide.

How long does it take to apply tape in hair extensions?

Applying our tape in hair extensions is so easy!  It typically takes around 30 minutes but can take less once you get the hang of it and become a real pro.  Unlike other permanent hair extensions our tape ins have zero mess, there are no messy keratin bonds or special tools required.  They are safe to apply without training or a professional, making them convenient and fuss free.

The application of tape in extensions basically involves taking small segments of the natural hair and sandwiching them between the tape in wefts.  You start from the base of the head and work your way up the scalp, diagrams of the layout for this can be found by searching the internet. You can add as many or as little extensions depending on the look that you want to achieve, although we usually recommend a minimum of 2 packs.

How long will the hair on my tape in extensions last?

It is important to care for your hair extensions as you would care for your real hair and to use suitable products.  It is worth investing in high-quality hair products that are sulfate-free and gentle to the hair. Avoid using heating tools and chemicals too often and regularly use a deep conditioning treatment to keep the extensions in good condition and silky smooth.  We use only the highest quality Remy hair which can last longer than 6 months as long as you take good care of it.

How many packs do I need for my hair?

This will depend upon your natural hair type.  At the minimum, we suggest 2 packs of tape in extensions and this is a good starting point.  However, if your hair is already thick naturally or you want really full, voluminous locks then you will likely want to get 3-4 packs.

The amazing thing about our tape in hair extensions is that you can determine as you go along how many more wefts you would like to add and can vary this from application to application.

How do I remove my tape in hair extensions?

Removing our tape in hair extensions is super easy and requires no harsh chemicals or special tools!  The hair extensions stay attached to the hair due to the glue on the tapes, so you dissolve this using a special tape extension remover spray.  This is spayed on the tape section of the extensions and gently pulled apart as the adhesive rapidly dissolves. Our extensions use a high quality of tape which ensures that no tape residue is left in the hair after removal, which can happen when using cheaper alternative brands.

Can I go swimming with tape in hair extensions?

Once you have put your tape in extensions in, you have to wait for 48 hours before getting the hair wet.  The reason for this is that the glue on the tape needs plenty of time to dry completely or the adhesive will not work and the hair extensions will fall out.  Once 48 hours have passed, it is ok to go swimming with our hair extensions although it is recommended to try and keep the hair dry where possible. The hair in the extensions can tangle a little more easily because of their length and volume and the salt or chlorine can dry them out, making it even harder to de-tangle any knots.  Similarly to natural hair, the chemicals in chlorine can cause damage and dryness to the extensions, so try to avoid this. After swimming, rinse, shampoo and condition your hair as soon as possible.
